Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla last week, the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. There’s not a lot to cover about the game at this point, but we thought we’d roundup everything that we do know just to get you up to speed. First things first, there’s a great-looking cinematic trailer below.
On top of that, the Creative Director and Narrative Director for the game sat down with the Ubisoft news team to produce a trailer breakdown. Very much worth a watch.
Okay, so now into the details.
Current Or Next-Gen?
The answer is both! Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be launching for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and be a launch title for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. This will be the first cross-generation game that the series has seen since Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. I wouldn’t expect too much in terms of visual differences though, at this point in the console generation cycle there are very few differences between different versions of the same game.
Settlement Building
One of the greatest features that will come with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the ability to establish and build up your own settlement. We’re not sure what this will look like, but you’ll be recruiting new people to join you, helping set up new buildings, and establish your community with the one around you in England.
Bloody Battles
The details haven’t been outlined yet, but in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla there will be a war between vikings and the English, known as Saxons at the time. Your group will be caught in the middle, as vikings who have sought a new life. There will be viking raids and English attacks, and it sounds as if it will be down to you to decide which side your allegiances fall on. It could even be possible to work between the two.
After these core details, anything else gets a bit vague. We’ll be looking into Assassin’s Creed Valhalla over the coming weeks, but this week we do know that there will be some new gameplay shown alongside Microsoft’s Xbox event. We can’t wait to see this game in action.
