I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is awesome! The game offers so much content already, with a story that blew me away, replayable open world content, and views that still make me stop and take a screenshot because of their beauty. Now Ubisoft has announced that the game’s first big update, the River Raid Update, is coming in February 2021. It’s an update that’s designed to expand the game’s replayability, and give those who want to pour even more hours into it an excuse to do exactly that. I can’t wait to get my hands on it, and I think you should all be excited about it too.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla River Raid Update
The River Raid Update will add three new maps to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that can e replayed over and over again for more and more loot. There will be gear, books of knowledge, silver, and runes on offer for those who take on these challenges. That’s only the start though. There’s going to be a new Jomsviking Hall that will make it possible to recruit more Jomsvikings to your crew. This is designed to make raiding easier for you, because your crew will be so much better, but also because you can put more Jomsvikings out there. Whenever your Jomsviking gets used, you get a cut of the loot that the player who used them got. It’s basically free money and loot, and it’s all yours.
This is interesting because it shows that Ubisoft is still doubling down on the multiplayer elements of the Assassin’s Creed series. It’s just that they’re focusing on a more passive form of multiplayer. You may never notice that this is going on, but you’ll still reap the rewards. This seems to be where the Assassin’s Creed multiplayer scene is heading. It’s a bittersweet evolution, because I loved the original multiplayer, but if this works better for more players then I’m all for it.
One thing. I would eventually like to see is co-op raids. If I could raid with another player, it would make my day, year, decade, maybe even my entire life. Raiding is one of the best activities in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, so why not make it even more fun?
