It doesn’t matter what state the world is in, we all needs games to relax to. I’ve been thinking quite a lot about games that I find relaxing, or aspects that I like to chillout to, and I’ve got another one for you. In this article, I’m talking about raiding in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. That might not sound like the most relaxing of activities, but I find myself doing it every now and then when my brain is fried and I want to play something that doesn’t actually require me to think at all. Let’s get into how you can relax with it to.
The first thing you need to know about raiding in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is that it’s only tied to the story in two ways. The first is in the game’s early hours when you have to raid for a main quest. Outside of that, there’s nothing to tie the story and raiding together other than Vikings as a people. Second, when you raid you earn resources to build up your settlement. This is part of the story, and you actually earn more quests as you build the structures, but you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. Some story arcs are locked until your settlement is of a certain size, but that’s it.
All you do when you raid is sail from point to point along the rivers of Saxon England murdering and pillaging. It’s actually a lot of fun, and a core part of the Assassin’s Creed experience. You don’t need to have the sound on for it though, and you don’t need to pay that much attention. Your crew will be raiding as well, and they’re very capable of killing your enemies. You can arrive, kill a couple of dudes, and then sit back and relax while you let your crew do the rest. All you actually have to do is rock up and take the treasure.
This may not sound like a lot of fun, but when you need to relax and don’t want to think about a game, there’s nothing better out there at the moment. If you don’t believe me, give it a try for yourself.
