At this point, pretty much every Assassin’s Creed fan knows that the next expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be Dawn of Ragnarok. We’ve had teasers, and with every update, the game files become more and more packed with bits and pieces of the next expansion. Ubisoft is setting things up to make the release of the expansion easier, which is why we’re being inundated with leaks from these files. Of course, everything should be taken with a pinch of salt, but there’s one leak that I think is pretty accurate. This is the theory that there will be an arena of some kind in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, something similar to those of the past two games in the franchise.
Arenas are great in the Assassin’s Creed series. They’re small areas that can be packed with enemies very quickly and truly challenge any player, regardless of their level. This is the stuff that we dream of when we reach the highest level possible in the game. When there are no more enemies that can challenges us out in the world, we have to rely on certain systems like bosses and arenas to provide the challenge that will push us to our limits.
In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, I’m not sure what form this arena will take. I think there will definitely be an element of Norse mythology linked to it, but how much it leans into that, I’m not sure. The expansion is set to take place in the realm of another race in Norse mythology, so there’s a good chance that it’ll be themed around what that race believed in and practiced. I’d like to see some truly impossible foes step into the fray. Enemies such as The Builder boss and maybe even a couple of minor gods that could put Eivor, or whoever we end up playing as, to the test. There is so much potential in this upcoming expansion, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together. With this leak though, I know that I certainly need an arena in the expansion, and I think every other fan in the world feels the same way as I do.
