The Ugliest Pokemon Ranked

Pokémon is one of the most well-known video game franchises of all time. The first Pokemon games arrived in the U.S in 1998 before making there way to Europe the following year. There were originally 151 Pokémon to catch and train, but since then that number has been expanded all the way to 1,010! All 1010 of these creatures vary widely in their overall appearance. Some are seen by many as cute and adorable, while others are considered to be downright ugly. In this article, I will be ranking the top 10 Pokémon I believe to be the ugliest out of all.

Top 10 Most Ugly Pokémon Ranked

10. Muk

For the first Pokémon on the list, we have Muk. Muk is a poison type Pokémon and as you can see, it is made of a living purple sludge. This Pokémon’s sludge is considered to be a living biohazard. It capable of instantly killing any plants it touches and can cause severe sickness in anyone it comes into contact with. This Pokémon definitely isn’t the easiest on the eye, being made up of a toxic purple sludge. It’s made all the worse by the fact that the teamrocket grunts often deploy Muk against you in battle.

9. Gastrodon

Number 9 on the list goes to Gastrodon. Gastrodon is known as the sea-slug pokemon and you can see why. It was introduced in Generation III and is water and ground type. This pokemon isn’t the most pleasing to the eye with it’s head tentacles and it’s resemblance to a real slug. Much like Muk, it isn’t really the kind of pokemon you would want to come into contact with too often as a trainer either.

8. Probopass

Next up is Probopass, the compass Pokémon. This is a generation IV Pokémon. The thing that stands out with this one is its enormous nose that is practically the size of its whole body. It then also has a bushy black moustache consisting of iron sand. On it’s side and back, it has mini-noses and on its head is a magnet. Overall, this is a very strange looking Pokémon indeed. It doesn’t really make sense for it to have a moustache if it is made of rock either, as it is rock and steel type.

7. Trubbish

For number 7, we have Trubbish, the trash bag pokemon. Trubbish was introduced in generation V and hence the name, it looks like rubbish. It has ears that look like a knot in a rubbish bag. It has also teeth resembling broken glass, and arms that look like spillage from a bag of rubbish. Unless you like the look of an overflowing rubbish bag, it’s hard not to argue that Trubbish is an ugly Pokémon, if not one of the ugliest.

6. Dunsparce

Next is Dunsparce, the land-snake Pokémon from Generation II. This is a small, normal type Pokémon. It can burrow into the ground and tends to live in caves. It is another strange Pokémon that resembles an insect of sorts. It’s difficult to exactly put my finger on it, but there is something about Dunsparce that makes it stand out as one of the ugliest Pokémon for me.

5. Graveler

Returning to the first generation of Pokémon,  we have Graveler, the rock Pokémon. Graveler has the appearance of a boulder covered in small bumps. It also has strange arms that kind of look out of place. I didn’t realise that boulders could have arms! There are few positive things to say when it comes to this Pokémon’s looks. It is a rock and quite an ugly rock at that.

4. Slowpoke

For number 4, I choose Slowpoke, the dopey Pokémon from the first generation. Slowpoke is supposed to be a cross between a salamander and hippopotamus. The end result is something very strange indeed. Slowpoke is another ugly Pokémon that, well, just looks ugly, even if it is hard to say exactly why.

3. Exeggutor

Another one from the first generation (maybe there is a theme here), we have Exeggutor. This is another very strange Pokémon. For starters it appears to have three faces. It is supposed to resemble a coconut or palm tree. So, it is a living coconut tree and the coconuts are its faces. Each coconut also has different facial expressions. Exeggutor is very short for a coconut tree though standing just 2 metres tall. All this adds up to form another very ugly Pokémon indeed.

2. Lickitung

This is the last Pokémon from generation one. Here, we have none other than Lickitung, the licking Pokémon. It is 2 metres tall and has a humongous tongue. This tongue is used to catch it’s prey and it can cause rashes if you are licked by it. This tongue alone really makes Lickitung stand out as a particular ugly Pokémon as well. It is almost worthy of the top spot but not quite.

1. Garbodor

Last but certainly not least, we have Garbodor, the trash heap Pokémon from Generation V. If you thought Trubbish was ugly, then check out its evolutionary form Garbodor. Instead of just being a rubbish bag, it is a literal pile of rubbish. It has a lumpy, gray body full of this rubbish and it can even spray poisonous gas from its fingertips. This is a Pokémon I wouldn’t want to go anywhere near.

Hopefully, this article gave you a good idea of the ugliest Pokémon out there. As you can see, not all Pokémon are necessarily pleasing to the eye. Whether they are good in battle is a different question altogether though. Some of these may still be worth training, regardless of whether they look ugly or not!
