September 2023 is now on the horizon and along with it are a whole host of upcoming games. From big AAA titles such as Starfield to indie titles such as Party Animals, this promises to be another fantastic month. In this article, I will be detailing the top five major titles to keep on your radar. There will also be some honourable mentions worth checking at the bottom.
Major Releases for September 2023
06/09/23 – Starfield (XSX, PC)
The first game on the list is none other than Starfield itself. This is a very highly title by Bethesda. It is a space-themed RPG that allows you to land on and explore over 1,000 planets. Starfield features cutting edge graphics and seeks to take full advantage of the current gen Xbox consoles. It is a fully-open world title granting the player a lot of freedom. You can explore many hugely detailed environments such as the in-game city of New Atlantis. This city is the largest fictional city ever developed by Bethesda! Overall, Starfield has the makings of a truly amazing game and is definitely one to keep on your radar. What’s more, it will also be available on Xbox game pass the day of its release.
19/09/23 – Lies of P (PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX, PC)
Lies of P is a soulslike RPG being published by Neowiz Games. The game takes place in the city of Krat where you play as a humanoid form of Pinocchio. You can wield various different weapons such as swords and axes. The main character can also dodge, parry and use his mechanical arm as a form of attack. There is also a weapon crafting system with over 30 different weapon types and many more combinations. Lastly, there are multiple choices you can make during one’s playthrough of Lies of P leading to three possible endings. This is another great title to keep an eye on next month. 19/09/23 – Mortal Kombat 1 (PS5, XSX, NS, PC)
Mortal Kombat 1 is a fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. It will serve as the 12th main instalment in the long-running Mortal Kombat franchise and will also be the second reboot hence the 1 in its title. It launches with a playable roster of over 20 characters. As for the gameplay, it features all the blood and gore the series is known for along with very high quality visuals. All this makes it another highly anticipated September game to look out for.
21/09/23 – Payday 3 (PS5, XSX, PC)
Payday 3 is an upcoming first-person shooter game. It is a title that can be played either in single-player or multi-player. As in Payday 2, the general premise centres around raiding banks. You have a variety of different weapons and tools at your disposal in order to accomplish this. It is yet again up to you to find the best way of infiltrating all the various areas in the game. This is the first new game in the franchise since 2013, and as such there is a lot of hype surrounding it. For one thing, the visuals and gameplay look better than ever. Not only this, but it is also arriving on Gamepass the day of its release.
26/09/23 – Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC (PS5, XSX, PC)
Although not technically a new game, this remains one of the most anticipated releases of the September 2023. This is a major expansion to Cyberpunk 2077 and will continue the story of V as he tries to save the NUS president. It will introduce the player to an entirely new area of Night City known as Dogtown. Dogtown is meant to be one of the most dangerous places in the whole of the Night city and so will certainly pose many new challenges. There will also be multiple new cyberware mechanics implemented during the expansion as well as new weapons. It is also of note that this expansion exclusively targets current generation consoles. As such, it aims to deliver the most immersive and visually impressive night-city experience yet.
