Guitar Hero is a highly popular music rhythm video game franchise. The first Guitar Hero game came out in 2005 on the PS2 and it was met with widespread critical acclaim. No, unfortunately Guitar Hero is not currently available on the PS5. The latest Guitar Hero game was Guitar Hero Live. This game was released in 2015 for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U and mobile. The PS5 does have backwards compatibility with the PS4. However, the live servers for Guitar Hero live shut down a few years after the games’ release. This made most of the former Guitar Hero Live songs unplayable. Thankfully, there is a similar game available for PS5 called ‘Rock Band 4’. This is another interactive music game made by the same company behind the first two Guitar Hero games. Rock Band 4 includes a huge variety of songs and music spanning multiple decades. You can play these songs using instrument controllers. Thankfully, the developers of Rock Band 4 confirmed that the game would feature full backwards compatibility with current generation consoles upon release. This extends to all the music-related peripherals as well.
In conclusion, Guitar Hero is sadly not playable on Sony’s latest console. If you are a desperate a guitar-hero like experience on PS5, Rock Band 4 is your best bet. The game was released to positive reviews. It received a score of 8.8 out of 10 from IGN and it still great fun to this day.
