The Dishonored game franchise is one of the most popular of all time. When the probability that a third mainline game might be coming via a leak this past September, fans were rightfully excited. The leak, which came from a court document associated with Microsoft’s FTC case, even gave a release window of FY2024, or Fiscal Year 2024. This same document was one that originally listed both Starfield and Redfall, two other Bethesda games, as releasing in 2022 at the time.
With that information, it might be safer to assume that the release window has since changed. It’s also safe to assume that if it’s not set to release in 2024, then it’s actively still in development. Right?
Is Arkane Studios Currently Working on Dishonored 3?
There’s no proof that developer Arkane Studios is actively or even currently working on Dishonored 3. However, while only speculation, the game may be set up for a surprise announcement with a surprise release. The document stated that the game’s release window is Fiscal Year 2024, which would end in March 2025. That means that the long-awaited sequel could be released anytime between January and March of next year.
The document also outlined other games that publisher Bethesda is working on. These included remasters of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3, so Bethesda has a lot of announcements on its hands besides just Dishonored 3.
What Platforms Will Dishonored 3 Be On?
Considering that Xbox now owns Bethesda, and the latter released Starfield as an Xbox exclusive, Dishonored 3 will likely be the same. Under this same speculation, Dishonored 3 will likely be available day one on Game Pass. It may only be a timed exclusive, as the previous games were available on the PlayStation. However, nothing has yet to be confirmed.
Will There Be a Dishonored Remake?
As we said before, the Dishonored franchise is well-loved and highly respected. Considering that Bethesda plans to rerelease both Oblivion and Fallout 3, a Dishonored remake isn’t too difficult to imagine happening. It’s been over a decade since the release of the first installment. Remaking it and using it as a gateway for new players to be interested in Dishonored 3 when it comes out sounds like a good idea to us. However, it’s important to know that there is no proof of this being the case as of right now.
Hopefully, there will be more news about Dishonored 3 as we break the waters into the new year. There are plenty of events for it to be announced at.
