The new year kicks off with a possible new entry in the Spyro series being teased by the official account. Not long after the year started, the official Spyro X (Twitter) account posted an image that ignited the rumor mill. This teaser seemingly hints at a possible new game in the series that has been dormant since the Reignited Trilogy’s release.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen the purple dragon in action. In 2018, players were able to experience the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. This collection of games allowed players to experience the first three beloved PlayStation classics with a new coat of paint. In each of the games, Spyro tries to bring back peace to different worlds while taking down several goons and enemies.
While the Reignited Trilogy was popular, selling over 10 million units as of September 2023, not much was heard about Spyro since. That is until recently, when the official X (Twitter) account for Spyro posted a teaser image featuring the young purple dragon with the caption “2024 Motto.” Needless to say, the caption is more than enough of a hint.

The “You gotta believe!” tagline is a bit cheeky. Of course, people are going to take the teaser image and its implications as fuel for the rumor mill and go with it. A lot of users across the social media are now firmly believing that this is confirmation that the beloved dragon will get the spotlight in a new video game sequel. In other words, Spyro 4 is just around the corner, waiting to be announced. With Activision Blizzard (the current owner of the Spyro IP) now under the wing of Xbox, it’s also possible that this new entry in the Spyro the Dragon series could be headed to the Xbox consoles and PC. Who knows? Maybe the game could also be available first on Xbox Game Pass.
