When you realize that there are now more than 1,000 Pokemon to catch, it is hard to pinpoint the strongest one. Pokemon excel in different ways, including their types, evolutions, and even moves learned, among other important categories that contribute to their power. Even within these categories, declaring a victor is an arduous task.
In this guide, we will try to answer the question of what is the strongest Pokemon by carefully dissecting each category and based on their stats determine which Pokemon can rule them all when it comes to pure power.
1. Arceus
Arceus is the Alpha Pokemon. According to the lore, Arceus created the Pokemon universe. He has the highest base stat total (720), and well-rounded stats in all areas – Attack, Defense, Speed, and special abilities. Moreover, Arceus isn’t a single-type Pokemon, instead, he can hold the power of any with its Multitype ability. Nevertheless, you still need to fight all the evolutions that have stronger move sets and stats and because of that, Arceus isn’t the strongest Pokemon out there.
2. Dragon-Type: Mega Salamence
Mega Salamence is supreme among Dragon-type Pokemon. With an impressive 780 base stat, not to mention Physical Attack and Speed, it is a force to be reckoned with. Moreover, it is resistant to Fire, Water, and Grass, meaning attacks from these Pokemon types can do little to no damage to this magnificent beast. In battles, Mega Salamence can use Outrage and Dragon Dance, two devastating moves, and plow its way to the top. Nevertheless, Mega Salamence, although the strongest Dragon-type is not the strongest Pokemon overall.
3. Electric-Type: Zekrom
The Black Lightning, Zekrom is known for its raw power. With 780 base stat, is a dominant Pokemon, plus the fury moves such as Bolt Strike and Fusion Bolt. Zekrom doesn’t have any form of evolution, but that is what sets him apart from other Pokemon, proving his strength as a base Pokemon. Moreover, it is resistant to Water and Ground Pokemon types. Zekrom is a part of the Tao Trio alongside Reshiram and Kyurem.
4. Mega Mewtwo X and Y
Mega Mewtwo X and Y are the result of Mega Evolution. This makes an already powerful Pokemon even stronger. Both boast a phenomenal 780 base stat, with a focus on crushing Special Attack. Their Psychic typing grants them access to a wide moveset, including Shadow Ball and Psystrike. Unfortunately, their weakness to several Pokemon types, including Flying, Bug, Fairy, and Dark, makes them vulnerable, depleting the chances of being the strongest Pokemon out there. Nevertheless, Mega Mewtwo is the only Pokemon alongside Charizard that has two Mega evolutions, making it a strong contender for the title.
5. Eternamax Eternatus
Eternamax Eternatus, the Poison Dragon from Pokemon Sword & Shield is a true behemoth among Pokemon. Clocking in with a staggering 1,125 base stat total, other Pokemon are simple dwarfs in comparison. Boasting 250 in both Defense and Special Defense, Eternamax Eternatus is a nearly impenetrable wall. However, its true terror lies in its 255 HP and potential access to the move Dynamax Cannon, which deals double damage to Dynamaxed or Gigantamaxed foes. All of this makes it the strongest Pokemon. However, it is important to note that trainers cannot capture Eternamax Eternatus.
This is all you need to know about the strongest Pokemon out there. It is terribly hard to select the strongest one, but with this article, you have some guidelines to follow and know what Pokemon to catch if you want your deck to be a potent one.
