Little Nightmares 3 is the latest title in the beloved indie puzzle-platformer franchise. It is poised to bring the new adventures set in the familiar dark aesthetics as players try to avoid lurking shadows.
We already have a glimpse of what to expect, including new characters, monsters, and gameplay. While the exact date of release is still unknown, there is so much to look forward to as Supermassive Games takes us back to the eerie mysterious world, which now has a name. Here are the most significant things we know so far:
1. Little Nightmares 3 is Being Developed by Supermassive Games Instead of Tarsier Studios
Tarsier Studios, the original studio to develop the two installments, announced that the second game would be the final installment in the series. However, Bandai Namco Entertainment wanted to build upon the success of two games. Recognizing the series’ potential, they saw Little Nightmares as a valuable ‘headline IP’.
In a surprising turn of events, Little Nightmares III was announced at Gamescom in 2023, but with a significant change. Unlike its predecessors, this new game is being developed by Supermassive Games, marking a departure from the original developer.
2. Little Nightmares’ World Now Has a Name
Little Nightmares 3 is unique in many ways. One of them is the fact that the world now has a name, and is called The Nowhere.
While the world has a name, what is not different is the same anxiety it brings with it. Whether you will fall down or a monster will end you, remains a treat. One of the creatures lurking is the Monster Baby, a new resident with swiveling doll-like eyes and a massive size.
3. Little Nightmares III Has Two Protagonists
Little Nightmares 3 brings a new perspective to the popular horror platformer series. For the first time it will feature two protagonists, named Low and Alone. Each character possesses unique abilities and weapons, allowing players to choose their preferred style of play. Low wields a bow and arrow, while Alone is equipped with a wrench.
The new installment in the series will let players go on a solo adventure with an AI companion taking control of the character they choose not to play. However, for those seeking a more collaborative experience, Little Nightmares 3 also features an online co-op mode.
4. The Game Has Already Received Awards
At Gamescom 2024, Little Nightmares won several awards. The categories include visuals, sound, and the Best Microsoft Xbox Game. This achievement paints a picture of the hype behind the game and already hints at success upon release.
It also proves that Little Nightmares will again focus on the dark mysterious setting and a soundtrack that will only add to the atmosphere.
5. There is No Set Release Date
Little Nightmares 3 will be available for everyone as it will launch on all platforms. These include:
- PS4
- PS5
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series X/S
- PC
- Nintendo Switch
However, this has created a delay when it comes to the release date. The game was originally planned for a 2024 release. Unfortunately, it has recently been postponed to 2025. To bring more bad news, the game doesn’t have a specified release date yet.
