Like many other multiplayer survival games, Once Human features regular server resets. While this is not a hidden fact from players, we are fast approaching the first forced server reset where players will need to pick new servers to migrate to. While other survival games like Rust, Once Human has many more currencies and items that players wouldn’t want to lose with a server reset. Due to the confusing nature of this migration process, many players are unsure of what they will keep and what they will lose. Let’s go over when the server migration will begin and what you can keep when you migrate servers in Once Human.
When Does the Once Human Server Migration Begin?
Since Once Human is a story-based game, the servers all have a life cycle that follows the flow of a story. That means that server migration will begin when your particular server reaches the final phase of the story and gives players ample time to finish it. For servers that were opened when Once Human launched, they are currently in their migration period and will be closing in the next few weeks. But servers that were opened later to let more players in are still early on in the weekly story and have a few more weeks to go until they begin to open for migration.
You can check where your server is in the story by looking at what phase it is on in the menu. Simply open your pause menu and click on the phase box in the top right. The current story for most servers is the Manibus story and has six total phases with the sixth phase being the migration period. PvP servers appear to have a different storyline happening in them but they should have a similar timeframe to work with.
Once your server reaches the last phase and opens for migrations, you will be prompted to sign up for a new server in the phase menu. You can pick from any type of server to join, the only servers open at the moment are a repeat of the first PvE and PvP storyline. With a new PvP and PvE story servers opening in the coming weeks. If you don’t want to hop servers quite yet, you can stay in your current server until the end of the final phase. But once the last phase is over you will be forced to pick a new server to place your character on before you can keep playing outside of the Eterna land.
What Gets Wiped When You Join a New Server in Once Human?
When you pick a new server to migrate to in Once Human, You will lose most currently crafted items and resources that you have on you or stored in your base. The full list of items you lose is as follows:
- Crafted Weapons and Armor
- Regular Resources (gathered or looted items, medical items and bullets)
- Deviation
- Calibration Blueprints
- Energy Links
- Your Characters Level
While you can’t bring these items to a new server with you, they don’t just vanish. They are instead moved to your Eterna Land inventory for use in Eterna Land. However, you are also granted around 30,000 currency that you can use to bring select items from your Eterna Land with you to your new server once you have moved your character over. The price of each item will vary depending on what the item is and the tier that the item is considered to be. basic resources like copper and wood will be cheap to bring with you but high-tier guns and resources like Titanium will be quite pricey.
You still get to bring some items with you for free. When you first drop into your new server, you will spawn with a pistol and a melee weapon. The following will still be in your inventory for you to use:
- Any Cosmetics You Acquired
- Premium Currencies and Quest Reward Materials
- Gear Blueprints
- Blueprint Fragments
- Weapon Mods
- House Blueprints
- Housing Item Skins
- Decorative Housing Items
This will leave you with a fresh start on your new server but you won’t have as much of a late-game grind to go through in order to acquire the best gear you can get. But you will still need to level up and get ciphers to unlock the most useful buildings, like the water pump.
You will also be able to pick a simplified storyline if you are joining a server with a story you have already completed. The simple story cuts out a lot of the fluff like having to go meet with NPCs and fight the shadow version of every boss before activating the area’s rift anchors. All you need to do is activate each area’s rift anchors and then fight the regular version of the area’s boss. This will leave you more time to quickly grind back up to the point you were previously at and continue the story from there.
Hopefully, this will ease your mind about the Once Human server migration, and relieve your worry that you will lose everything when you move. The server migration is set up to be more to a soft reset to allow for new players to get into the game and not have them be overwhelmed by veterans. It also helps keep the game fresh for players who have finished all of the main story.
