Picking the right setup can make things much easier, especially against big bosses. It can be good to go with one best suited to your desired playstyle. However, sometimes the more useful choice is what matters; in the case of this game, it does.

We have curated the list of the best Path of Exile 2 classes for players to use. From the Mercenary to the Huntress, Witch to Monk, there are a few different options. I have my go-to pick when I play the game, and it packs a punch. Below, you can find all of the details about the classes ranked in the game.

The Best Path of Exile 2 Classes Ranked

Currently, in Path of Exile 2, there are seven different classes to pick from in the game. They are Huntress, Mercenary, Monk, Ranger, Sorceress, Warrior, and Witch. As the game continues to progress, some become more viable to use than others. Especially with buffs to different stats. However, the following is the order of the best classes to use in the game.

#1 – Mercenary

The Mercenary class in POE 2 is by far the best choice in the game. Besides being my personal favorite, it feels like a jack of all trades. This class makes the game feel like a twin-stick shooter with ARPG mechanics. The character uses a crossbow, but it can be changed in a variety of ways. It can fire elemental ammo like poison or frost. Furthermore, its fire mode can be in continuous fire like an assault rifle. Or other variations like a burst of a shotgun. The Mercenary class excels in both ranged and close-quarters combat, making it highly viable in any situation in Path of Exile 2.

#2 – Huntress

The Huntress is another good class for various scenarios. She totes a spear as her primary weapon of choice, but it can be used both close and far. Just like the Mercenary, she can utilize various elemental attacks. Many of her moves are similar to the Mercenary. However, many of the similar abilities they have, the Merc can do better. The Huntress is better for medium-range and close combat. Additionally, she is good for crowd control and can get out of a situation by evading.

#3 – Witch

Players wanting to use spells in Path of Exile 2, the Witch is a good option. One of her best features is the ability to summon skeletons in combat. This is a great ability to have in battle, as they can help you cleave through regular enemies very easily. The class is very reliant on Mana, though. So players are going to have to build better flasks and consume less to be the most effective. Additionally, if you want to specialize in critical damage, the Witch features different stats that can do so. Moreover, you can go into an Infernalist or Blood Mage ascendancy to focus on fire or blood attacks, respectively.

#4 – Monk

If you are looking for a melee-focused class in Path of Exile 2, the Monk is that option. What makes the Monk class unique in Path of Exile 2 is that its melee with a twist. That being the attacks are infused with mana abilities. In this case, lightning, ice, and wind. The class likes to get into the thick of it, and so players will need to take note of their vitality in this case. However, the Monk is a class that can be tough to learn for new players. Especially with its emphasis on trying out different metas to succeed in battle. Therefore, it might be best to pick this class after some more experience at Path of Exile 2.

#5 – Sorceress

The Sorceress is the latest class to be added to the game. Just like the Witch, she cast various spells to contend against her foes. She uses a staff to cast our specialty elemental attacks of fire, lightning, and ice. While a decent character, between her and the Witch, she is the weaker choice. This is primarily due to her defense capabilities not being as good. So if the Sorceress is in a fight, she is more likely to go down. The character is best picked if you are playing in a group. This is due to many of her spells stunning enemies. Because of this, you can have other players storm in to deal out damage while you work on stopping any aggression.

#6 – Ranger

Ranger utilizes a bow and ground control abilities to fight the forces of evil. With the class being able to various plants and skills to root enemies, it’s a decent setup. Because you can hold the enemy in place and pick them off with damage from a distance. While it can be good at it, the Mercenary outshines it with its varying weapon types alone. Not just that, but the Ranger also has elemental ammo, which the Mercenary also uses. All-in-all, the Ranger feels like a weaker version of the Merc, with the ability to root being its one-up on the other class. But if you have to choose between the two, there is an obvious winner.

#7 – Warrior

the warrior class in POE2

The Warrior in Path of Exile 2 is all about melee combat with various melee weapons. For example, swords and axes are the best ones to use. However, it is the most neutral class to use. It has a lot of points built into STR, meaning it is the tank of the group. Players will be going into crowds of enemies and taking all the aggression. Players need to be using the maces to stun enemies, meaning the class’s viability is built around these weapons. Warrior can be decent, especially if you use Titan as an ascendancy to build into Earthquake. In turn, this will allow you to take down many mobs of foes. However, even without this, it feels like the main purpose of the class is to help fight the smaller enemies. Its less-than-diverse usefulness makes it a tough pick to make in Path of Exile 2 currently.

That is our ranked list of the best Path of Exile 2 classes. Since the game’s release, classes like the Mercenary have stayed consistently at the top. Each of the picks is useful in its own way. Furthermore, they all have different playstyles. That will suit different players based on what they prefer to do. Right away, I was pulled into the varying shooting styles of the Mercenary and have been enjoying myself. But, it doesn’t hurt to give each one a try to see what you vibe with. Once you make a pick, finding the Stellar Amulets can make you feel more powerful. Luckily, we know how to get them.
