Octopath Traveler 0 Tier List

S+ Tier Characters

TravelersFeatures
Alexia (Scholar)Powerful Light and Dark elemental damage dealer with weak point detection and elemental attack boosts for the entire party.
Sazantos (Flameguard)Has lots of overpowered buffs on multiple elements and a diverse range of both Light and Dark attack options for the late game.
Alfyn (Apothecary)Use him to quickly heal an ally or to concoct items for healing, revival, and the cure of status ailments, also having solid physical damage and HP pool of his own.
H’aanit (Hunter)Deals serious physical damage with either bow or axe and is able to summon beasts with a Second Service chance to attack for 50% critical damage.
Delitia (Hunter)Massive debuffer who’s able to reduce enemies’ speed with Piercing Shadow and slow them down with Soporific Ice Fog that can be extended through passives.

S-Tier Characters

TravelersFeatures
Heidne (Thief)Due to her Man-Eating Miser’s Ring that inflicts bleed, Heidne excels in back-row synergy for physical DPS and breaking, although she’s arguably the hardest one to recruit.
Laurana (Cleric)Best Cleric in the game with Ethereal Healing that heals allies by the rows and an Ultimate Maiden’s Miracle that auto-revives allies with 50% HP.
Stia (Architect)Use this early hybrid supporter for buffing, healing, and regen using her Full Cheer ultimate, making her a key unit for town-building in the early game.
Phenn (Hunter)Here’s another early tanky unit with an Avenging Triple Shot that scales on hits and an Ultimate Shield of Hope that reduces all ally damage two turns in a row.
Therion (Thief)Physical DPS breaker and debuffer who ignores shields and self-heals with lifesteal, but still not as strong as Heidne, although a good alternative, for sure.

A-Tier Characters

TravelersFeatures
Tressa (Merchant)Versatile supporter and tank with unique buffs and Wind elemental attacks, who can be recruited at the Theatropolis, but she’s not too mobile.
Olberic (Warrior)Classic tank with high physical defense, sword damage, and taunt for aggro control, who’s pretty vulnerable to elemental weaknesses.
Cyrus (Scholar)Multi-element AoE nuker with high elemental DPS, but is physically fragile, having low physical damage output even with the help of a tome.
Esperre (Apothecary)Hybrid healer and buffer with some very strong status cleanses and revives, but Esperre’s axe focus limits elemental flexibility.
Saoirse (Dancer)Decent buffer with attack and speed debuffs on enemies and similar buffs for allies with low direct damage.
Viator (Warrior)Early tanky swordbreaker with high physical attack, who has lots of elemental vulnerabilities that limit his role beyond tanking.
Macy (Apothecary)Poison and paralysis DoT dealer for boss chip damage with some solid heals, but only for single allies and much weaker party heals.

All other travelers are simply outclassed by their better alternatives listed above, and many of them are too dependent on the team synergies to be viable in the game’s meta.
