5 Best Builds in Half Sword

Half Sword official artwork

The selection of weapons and armor in Half Sword is overwhelming, so it can be very hard to choose the best possible configuration for your character. This guide will provide you with a list of the five best builds for five different ranks, including:

  1. Poleaxe Knight Build
  2. Longsword Precision Build
  3. Scythe Crowd Control Build
  4. Halberd Shieldbreaker Build
  5. Pitchfork Beginner Build

Poleaxe Knight Build

Poleaxe Knight Build

This build currently dominates the late game meta with its superior reach, easily outranging halberds and swords. It deals massive blunt damage that concusses the enemy’s plate armor and uses spike to stab them through a visor or in the neck. You can also use an extra axe just for the limbs. When handling your Poleaxe, charge with the RMB to poke legs or neck. Then, do an overhead smash to stagger and E-grab the downed foes. It’s also useful for countering shielded enemies by hooking their armor.

Longsword Precision Build

Longsword Precision Build

If you’re looking for a build that performs equally well at all ranges, then use your longsword to stab neck, visor, and armpits with a double LMB. Also, be sure to use the full grip slashes for maximum damage. Bait enemy parries with fool’s guard by pointing your sword down and whirling it over their heads. This build mostly excels in Duels and Brave Stands, but scales infinitely with skill.

Scythe Crowd Control Build

Scythe Crowd Control Build

Here’s one of the early game monster builds, where you can use the E + RMB combo for sweeping grabs that decapitate crowds for control. You can use it to charge through entire groups, hooking their weapons and legs. Of course, it won’t do much against heavily plated enemies that require blunt damage, but it’ll carry you to 4K scores if you can pair it with the Buckler shield in your offhand.

Halberd Shieldbreaker Build

Halberd Shieldbreaker Build

Halberds are universally harder to master, but this build allows you to poke necks and legs from safety using the RMB thrust attacks. If you want to stagger your enemies, then hurl your axe over their heads and use the hook to pull away their shields. This is actually the real anti-shield king of the builds, using bait swings and countering legs. Alternatively, if the halberd feels a bit too much, then use the Militia billhook variant for points, which can be easily transitioned from spears.

Pitchfork Beginner Build

Pitchfork Beginner Build

Finally, if you’re just starting out and looking for the most effective build from the very beginning, then opt for this build with the Pitchfork, using RMB to poke legs and immobilize enemies. It can also knock them out if your side-swing to the head works out. Be sure to stab-charge bosses and block attacks with the haft. But be sure to upgrade to polearms as soon as you can.
