Canceled? ‘Gang of Dragon’ Studio Has Deleted Its YouTube Channel

Nagoshi Studio, the studio founded by former chief creative officer at Sega, Toshihiro Nagoshi, has deleted its YouTube channel, removing all trailers for its in-progress Yakuza-like, Gang of Dragon, from the video sharing platform.

Gang of Dragon drew heads at The Game Awards 2025 with a trailer revealing Korean movie star Ma Dong-seok portraying the game’s lead. The buzz apparently wasn’t enough to smooth over the production’s financial issues, however. A Bloomberg report in March revealed publisher NetEase had cut funding for Gang of Dragons after Nagoshi Studio revealed the project required another $44 million to finish. NetEase stated it is willing to release Nagoshi Studio from its publishing contract if the developer purchases the Gang of Dragon property and assets. Nagoshi Studio was last reported to be seeking new funding sources, either to complete the game or to secure the purchase of the Gang of Dragons IP.

While Nagoshi Studio has not officially confirmed its current financial status, the recent removal of all promotional materials for Gang of Dragon has intensified concerns over the project’s future. Without a confirmed new backer, and with the project reportedly tens of millions of dollars away from completion, the disappearance of the studio’s digital presence suggests a significant shift in the game’s production status.
