LEGO Cities: Skylines Game Reportedly in Development

A new game called LEGO Skylines is reportedly in development at Paradox Interactive. Judging by its name, and the fact that Paradox Interactive is its publisher, it appears LEGO Skylines is a new, LEGO-themed installment in the Cities: Skylines series. A relation to the LEGO City line of products, however, has yet to be confirmed.

This unexpected news about LEGO Skylines has come from none other than the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea, which has recently rated the title on its website. The Korean ratings board didn’t provide any additional information about the game, aside from its name and publisher, but it’s likely that the title will be announced and released sometime in the near future. When games get rated by ratings boards, that typically means they’re close to being finished.

Paradox Interactive has not yet commented on this leak, but given the timing, it’s plausible that it will unveil this LEGO Skylines game at one of the upcoming summer games showcases. A LEGO-themed video game seems exactly like the type of thing that Geoff Keighley would reveal at one of his annual events. After all, the latest LEGO game, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Night, was also announced during a Keighley showcase.

Colossal Order Will Probably Not be the Developer of LEGO Skylines

Though Paradox Interactive serves as the publisher of the series, the Cities: Skylines games are actually developed by the Finnish studio, Colossal Order. Recently, however, two new studios have taken the reins of the franchise from Colossal Order’s hands. These are the Keywords Studio subsidiary Tantalus Media and the fellow Finnish company Iceflake Studios. The former is currently working on updates for the original Cities: Skylines, while the latter is continuing to develop (and fix) the critically-panned Cities: Skylines II.

With Colossal Order having officially parted ways with Paradox Interactive, the chances of this LEGO Skylines game being developed by the studio are quite slim. Perhaps Iceflake Studios will be working on the game instead, or maybe there’s a brand-new company involved with its development.

If this LEGO-themed game is actually real, then hopefully, it will fare better at launch than Cities: Skylines II did. As alluded to above, that game released in a disastrous state back in 2024, and it has still never really recovered from the initially poor reception that it received. LEGO Skylines could probably sell like hotcakes for Paradox Interactive, if it sticks the landing and lives up to player expectations.
