Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse True Ending Guide

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

If you wish to unlock the true ending of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, then you need to complete the optional content in Notre-Dame after the main path, obtain the Absolution spell, and use it at a precise moment in the final Dracula fight. This guide will provide you with tips and tricks on how to get the true ending in the game.

Requirements for Unlocking the True Ending

Joan of Arc

Once you’ve progressed far enough in your game to access Notre-Dame and the endgame areas of Dracula’s Castle, you need to obtain the key Arcana spells needed for the following trials:

TrialsSpells
The WarriorFrom Joan of Arc: Infernal Pyre
The SageFrom Eleanor: Mirror Walk (in the Mausoleum of the Kings in Holy Innocents’ Cemetery)
The JudgeFrom Saint Louis: Chains of Justice
The WhispererFrom the Ferryman: Freezing Path
The ShadowFrom Death rematch in Notre-Dame: Soul Harvest

Note that for the true ending, you don’t need every Arcana in the game, you’ll only need the ones listed above, plus The Self.

The True Ending Path Walkthrough

Self Arcana

Once you have all the required spells, find the Gallery of the Four Virtues and read the golden Prophecy inscription, which states that the Bells of Virtue must ring and humanity must overcome its Self. This means that you have to complete the Four Virtue Trials, equip the matching spell, interact with each window, complete the challenge, and ring the bell at the end to receive the Blessing.

TrialsBlessings
Courage (Joan of Arc)Equip Infernal Pyre (The Warrior) for a rematch against Joan to receive the Blessing of Courage.
Prudence (Eleanor)Equip Mirror Walk (The Sage), pass through the obstacle course, then reach and ring the bell for the Blessing of Prudence.
Justice (Saint Louis)Equip Chains of Justice (The Judge), climb the bell tower and ring the top bell for the Blessing of Justice.
Temperance (Ferryman)Equip Freezing Path (The Whisperer), cross spikes and hazards to ring the final bell for the Blessing of Temperance.

When the central altar illuminates after the blessings, you’ll be taken to a chapel, where you have to fight a cloaked enemy, which is Rose’s own shadow. This boss fight is very similar to Rose herself, so you shouldn’t have trouble beating her again. As a result, you’ll be rewarded with:

  • The Self Arcana card;
  • Absolution spell;
  • Shadow Work achievement;
  • An additional costume.

After the fight, you need to interact with the altar again to speak with Sypha’s spirit, equip Soul Harvest (The Shadow) and interact with the glowing clock on Clock Tower Bridge. Note that this will disarm the Death’s trap and open the correct route through the Heart of the Clock (Isaac), Master’s Quarters, etc. Do not re-interact with the clock afterward, or it risks re-arming the trap. Just follow these steps:

  1. Equip The Self so Absolution is ready.
  2. Travel through the Master’s Quarters, Grand Staircase, Throne Room Antechamber, and Throne Room (Court of the Night).
  3. Defeat Dracula in a two-phase boss fight.
  4. You will have a very short window of about 10-12 sec. right after the second form falls and the post-fight dialogue to activate Absolution.
  5. Hold the spell button during this window to cast it.

If you did everything right, this will trigger the true ending sequence and unlock the “Curse Lifted” achievement.
