Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series’ Retail Version Will Not Include All Episodes On-Disc

Telltale Games is set to continue its controversial ‘season pass disc’ strategy with the Game of Thrones series, it has been confirmed today.

The company drew criticism from fans last month when its retail version of Minecraft: Story Mode shipped with only the first episode included on-disc; the remaining four have to be downloaded as and when they become available. That’s not stopped the company from repeating the strategy with Game of Thrones though, with retail listings confirming that not all of the episodes will be included on the disc itself.

In the case of the PlayStation versions of the game, episodes one to five will be included on the disc, while the sixth will be available as a digital download. Meanwhile on the Xbox One and 360 versions, only episode one is included from the get-go:

Earlier today, it was confirmed that the final episode in Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will be arriving on November 17, alongside the physical release of the game. It is believed time constraints and the desire to release the game at retail in time for the Christmas shopping period are behind Telltale’s decision.
