Sony Announces ‘PlayStation Plus League’ eSports Platform

In what has been a busy news week for eSports fans, Sony has announced it is to continue its dedication to the sector with the introduction of a competitive league for PS4 players.

The PlayStation Plus League was originally unveiled earlier in the week by the official PlayStation France Blog. At launch, it will offer tournaments for the following nine games:

  • FIFA 16
  • Ultra Street Fighter IV
  • Battlefield Hardline
  • Project Cars
  • PES 2016
  • Trials Fusion
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Rocket League
  • Driveclub Europe

Each game will have its own dedicated championship, contested across a number of seasons and divisions which allow players to move up the ladder based on their performance. The first finals in the inaugural PlayStation Plus League will be held at Paris Games Week over the coming days, with over €20,000 set to be won.

It is unknown at this time whether this particular PlayStation Plus League will be exclusive to French PS4 users. This time last year, the Spanish PlayStation Blog announced the creation of a similar league in Spain, so it could be a case of rolling out the feature country by country across Europe.
