This afternoon at Sony’s GDC keynote in San Francisco, the price and release date for PlayStation VR, the company’s virtual reality headset, was revealed. It will launch in October 2016 at a price of $399/£349/€399. On PlayStation UK’s Twitter account, it has been noted that pre-order details are forthcoming. Around 50 games are expected to launch this fall at the release of the device, including RIGS, EVE Valkyrie and 100ft Robot Golf.
At this price, PS VR is considerably lower than both of its competitors, the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, with both releasing at $600 and $800 respectively.
In other PS VR news, the headset’s specifications were revealed at the same keynote address.
