The prayers of Batman Arkham fans have apparently been answered. A leaked image sent to Eurogamer confirms that Rocksteady Studios will re-release the first two Batman Arkham titles, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, in an unannounced “Batman HD Collection”, and will optimise the games for both PS4 and Xbox One.
Eurogamer stated that preorders for the new HD collection were to start yesterday, with the collection set to be released on June 10, through there has yet to be an official announcement from WB Games.
Arguably the two most popular titles in the Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Asylum and its follow-up, Batman: Arkham City, were released in August of 2009 and October of 2011, respectively. Both titles were released for PC, Xbox 360, PS4, and OS X, with Arkham City also releasing for the Nintendo Wii U. Arkham Asylum sold upwards of 593,000 units in the US during the week following its release, according to the NPD Group, and sold over 2.5 million copies by September of that year. The critically acclaimed Arkham City was one of the fastest-selling games in history, with 4.3 million copies being sold the first week of its release.
