In EA’s hour-long Battlefield 1 stream after their E3 press event, EA streamed its first look at the 64 player multiplayer reveal with celebrities in attendance including Terry Crews, Jamie Foxx, Zac Efron, and Snoop Dogg.
The stream gave us an extended look at some of the new features that will be coming to franchise’s first dive into World War I.
We can expect various tank classes, which hold between one and five players, some in which can be self repaired. Zeppelin airships were shown in multiplayer as well. If and when the airship is shot down, the wreckage will collapse on the battlefield below and flattening all buildings and players beneath it. Commentators discussed the dynamic weather system, which can bring about different weather conditions in the middle of multiplayer matches such as heavy fog and rain. Also mentioned was some of the new destruction that can come about mid-match, such as craters that can form under where tanks have exploded which can be used for cover.
Missing from the multiplayer stream was the trench warfare World War I is known for. The weapons, action, and pacing, despite the early 20th Century visuals, so far look to stay faithful to the past Battlefield games.
Battlefield 1 will release on October 21, and will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
