Although Prey 2 was highly speculated to make a return at this year’s Bethesda E3 presentation, a bit of a curveball was thrown as a Prey reboot was shown in the form of a cinematic trailer.
Within the trailer, the game’s protagonist, Morgan, is shown in a Groundhog Day scenario as he continuously wakes up on the same day. As he goes through his morning routine each time he wakes, it becomes clear that he is physiologically deteriorating. Morgan is the key subject of an experiment that doesn’t appear to be going well for him, and it looks as though his situation is about to get worse. His space station has been overrun by an “alien threat” and the player must navigate Morgan amongst the impending threats looming in the shadows.
The trailer indicated a first-person perspective with a heavy emphasis on shooting and psychological horror. Prey is expected to release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017. More information on Prey will be provided at Bethesda’s upcoming QuakeCon.
