Back at E3 in June, Bethesda thrilled fans when it announced that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition would be releasing on PC, Xbox One and PS4 later in the year.
Better still, the company later added, PC users who owned the original game and all of its DLC would be eligible for a free upgrade on Steam.
As you might expect, this announcement led to a flurry of price increases on Skyrim and its expansion packs across digital storefronts; purchasing the base game and its three downloadable add-ons will currently set users back close to $40 on Steam.
With the Special Edition due to launch in ten days’ time (October 28), one of the most affordable options for users wishing to purchase Skyrim on PC for the first time is to take advantage of a current Amazon offer, which discounts the physical PC version of Skyrim’s Legendary Edition to $19.00. This version of the title includes the base game, along with the Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn packs, which are added to the user’s Steam library upon installation – making them eligible to receive a digital copy of the Special Edition of the game for free on release day.
