Zelda: Breath of the Wild Setting and Story Details Revealed

Fans and players of the acclaimed Zelda franchise were happy last night at The Game Awards as they got another glimpse of what’s to come in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with new regions, Zelda, and a dash of evil all on display.

The trailer, featuring in-game and in-engine footage, shows the world of Hyrule: from sprawling super-green fields, or dreary caverns, to the deep, expansive cliffside, numerous terrains were covered, essentially showing the broad sense and scope of the world at players’ fingertips. It all looked great, and with the new power that the Switch should bring the world can only become prettier.

We also got our first look at what Link seems to be fighting against, with the destruction of parts of Hyrule in stark contrast to the lush color of the world seen before the darkness. It also seems the world that Link, and players, will have to explore will be expansive, wrapped up in the aforementioned unique art style. Of course, all of this is summed up by the teasing reveal of, what is expected to be, the princess Zelda. The iconic princess is hinted at only subtlety, but should bring fans excitement on where the story might go this time.
