The PS4 was the UK’s best-selling console in 2016, according to market research firm GfK’s latest report – confirming Sony’s mid-December declaration.
Without providing specific figures, GfK announced that the system beat out competition from both the 3DS and Xbox One to claim top spot for the third consecutive year; a full breakdown of sales is expected later in the week.
The report went on to state that the PS4 and 3DS were the only consoles to shift more physical games in 2016 than 2015; the industry saw an overall drop in physical sales by a significant 13.4 percent, down from 28 million units to 23.7 million.
Interestingly, GfK’s analysis declared that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was the second best-selling game in the UK last year, contradicting previous reports. Tantalisingly, it did not reveal the top-selling title, which is expected to be announced later.
