The UK’s top three best-selling games of 2016 have this morning been revealed, as further details trickle out of market research firm GfK’s end-of-year report.
Repeating its 2015 success, EA Sports’ FIFA franchise remained dominant at the top of the charts, with FIFA 17 seeing the greatest number of physical unit sales in the country during the year.
Despite shifting considerably fewer units than Black Ops III, Activision’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare managed to secure its spot as the UK’s second best-selling game, while EA and DICE’s Battlefield 1 took third place.
Without providing a full breakdown, GfK confirmed that each title shifted in excess of one million physical units.
The firm announced yesterday that the PS4 was the UK’s best-selling console of the year – while also confirming that the industry saw an overall drop in physical game sales by 13.4 percent to 23.7 million units.
