Kojima Explains Death Stranding’s Scale & More

Death Stranding is one of the most anticipated games that are coming out this year. If you did not already know, it is coming this November according to the official announcement trailer that came out. Hideo Kojima opened up about the scale and theme of the game on Twitter and mentioned that Death Stranding is not a stealth game but it is an action game with the concept of connection at its core.

In the trailer of the game, we see Sam use a ladder to climb up a hill. Kojima talked about this part of the trailer by mentioned the following:

The 1st tool the man invented was a stick to push away the bad ones, the next tool was a rope so as said. In the video game history, we could only jump to move oneself up/down and the 1st tool used was a ladder and then a rope next so as said.

We have seen handprints in the teaser videos and Kojima explained the significance of those. The following is what he had to say about them:

The handprint (palm) is an important icon in DS. When you open the palm you can hold the hand of other. When you close, it changes to fist that can exclude others. Both are inseparable. The palm can be compared to stick & rope.

As Death Stranding is about the connection you can expect to see this icon in the game. Kojima also mentioned the scale of the game. In the trailer we see a big snow covered mountain. Kojima talked about the mountain and mentioned that the player can actually climb it. That seems very impressive indeed and gives us an idea of how big the world of Death Stranding is going to be and what the players will be able to do in the open world.

All the cut-scenes are rendered in real-time so if your character is wearing glasses or something else then that is going to appear in the cutscenes as well. This is not something new but it is great to have nonetheless. Death Stranding is coming to the PS4 in November 2019.

Let us know what you think about Death Stranding and whether or not you are interested in playing the game when it comes out.
