Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Is The Largest Expansion In Recent History

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion is coming out on October 1st. Now only are guardians getting new story and content, the update also adds cross-save and the PC version of the game is moving to Steam. It seems that Destiny 2 Shadowkeep could be the largest expansion in recent history based on download size and storage that it needs.

New information on the official Destiny 2 Shadowkeep PS4 page mentions that the expansion could be as large as 68 GB. That does not seem all that much on its own but the page also mentions that the game could require a total of 65 GB hard drive storage space. That is a lot for a single game especially if you have a console with 500 GB internal storage. You might need to delete a few games and make room for the upcoming expansion if that is indeed the case.

Bungie made sure to mention that all this is subject to change. Interestingly the same is not true for the PC version of the game. The official steam store page only mentions that the game needs 105 GB available space which is fair enough keeping in mind that the game is already about 90 GB on PC without the upcoming expansion.

This is not the first time that a game is taking up more space on PS4 compared to Xbox One and PC and it is most likely not going to be the last time. I for one would not be surprised if the mentioned storage requirement turns out to be true and is not “subjected to change” so to speak.

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion is going to take players to a different moon as compared to the older game and it will be interesting to see what Bungie has to offer the fans. Players are excited and cannot wait to get their hands on the new content, weapons and gear.

The game has been delayed from mid-September to October 1st. The devs mentioned that they need more time to polish the expansion. They did not mention what the issue was. Migration to Steam could be one of the reasons, Armor 2.0 could be another reason. We do not know anything for sure but it is most likely one or both of these factors.

Destiny 2 and the upcoming expansion are going to be playable on Google Stadia and while you wait for the new content be sure to farm the Solstice of Heroes armor sets.

Let us know what you think about Destiny 2 Shadowkeep and whether or not you are interested in checking out the expansion when it comes out in October.
