The Only Shadow Of Mordor Trophy You Need To Worry About This Year

Last moth WB Games announced that they were taking the online support for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor down. This means that the game’s 100% trophy or achievement, whichever you prefer, is going to be unobtainable forever. However, until December 31, 2020, there’s still time to give yourself the chance of earning it. There’s only one trophy you need to pick up before the support goes down, and it’s not even that difficult to pull off. You just need to know what you’re looking for. Here I’m going to tell you what to do so that you don’t miss out. I hope you read this and it spurs you on, because I’m trying my hardest to get this trophy as well.

The trophy or achievement you need to pick up is called ‘Repaid in Blood’. It’s an online challenge linked to other players in the game. With your WBPlay account linked up, you should start to see Vendetta missions appear on your map after the second major area of the game is opened up. These are red missions that look a little like the targets you mark, but they’re not.

A Vendetta mission is created when a player dies in their own game world. It creates a target in your game for the enemy that killed them. If you kill that enemy, you’ll get this achievement, plus a load of extra goodies to help you in your game. It’s something that other games have gone on to use, such as Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, and it works really well. These are nice distractions from the main game, and they basically count as community content in a very weird way.

So to get this, you just need to power through the story until you see a Vendetta mission pop up. As soon as you do, go and kill that enemy. I don’t care how hard it is, if you do it, then you can get 100% in this game in 2021. If you don’t, then the game will shame you with a sub 100% completion rate until the end of your days. I couldn’t live with that. Can you?
