The Best Duck Pokemon – Ranked

Duck Pokemon

Be it ugly Pokémon like Muk, or cute duck Pokémon such as Psyduck, Pokémon is no stranger weird and wonderful creatures.
Ducks in Pokémon are usually not exceptionally powerful but they do offer something that most other Pokemon do NOT – the ‘aww’ factor.

Here are my picks for the top five best duck Pokémon:

5. Magby

Generation II saw the introduction of Magby, a fire-type baby Pokémon which means it is strong against Steel, Bug, Ice and Grass types. Magby evolves into Magmar starting at level 30.

It has a bright red body and a solo black horn. This Pokémon is quite hard-headed and determined and is usually near volcanic activity. Magby appears  throughout the anime series and it’s most notable appearance is as one of the Pichu Brothers’ friends.

4. Quaxly

Generation IX introduces Quaxly, a water-type duck Pokémon. It evolves starting at level 16 into Quaxwell. Don’t be fooled by it’s appearance as a Donald Duck tribute act, it is extremely useful and powerful with its Moxie ability. Regardless of not being native to the region, it appears in Paldea region. It first appeared in HZ001 in a Nidothing video, who was actually Dot in disguise. Ludlow is seen accompanying Quaxly often.

3. Ducklett

Generation V saw the introduction of Ducklett a dual-type – water and flying – duck Pokémon which evolves into Swanna beginning at level 35. Driftveil Drawbridge is Ducklett’s main spawn location but it also appears at many ponds and rivers. It is exceptionally talented and manages self-defense using it’s spray. Ducklett’s first appearance was Dancing With The Ducklett Trio. In the episode, the 3 Ducklett’s attacked and robbed Ash and his friends, making off with Ash’s hat and Sandile’s Sunglasses.

2. Farfetch’d

Generation I saw the introduction of Farfetch’d, another dual-type – normal and flying – Pokémon. Galarian Farfetch’d has a fighting-type. It evolves into Sirfetch’d after landing three successful hits in one battle. Kantonian Fartch’d’s is not known to evolve into or from any other known Pokémon. Route 5 between Turffield, and Hulbury, and Giant’s Mirror in the Wild Area are the best places to find Fatch’d but it’s appearances differ and spawn location changes based on the game which you are playing.

1. Psyduck

Psyduck is possibly the most famous duck Pokémon. It is a water-type Pokémon and introduced in Generation I. It evolves into the fantastic Golduck starting at level 33. Psyduck’s first appearance was Hypno’s Naptime in which Misty accidentally catches the poor little Psyduck. Psyduck’s most powerful ability is a psychic attack which triggers an immobilising headache upon him and temporarily confuses him although it is extremely effective against his foes.  Freshwater lakes and small ponds are the best place to find Psyduck. Tropical areas also often have Psyducks in case of Pokemon Snap.
