Far Cry 7: Everything We Know So Far

Far Cry 7

Far Cry fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the next instalment in the popular franchise. While Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed Far Cry 7, leaks and rumours suggest a new game is in development and could be released in Fall 2025.

Here’s a breakdown of what we know so far about Far Cry 7, including potential gameplay features, story details, and a possible release timeframe. It’s important to note that this information comes from leaks and hasn’t been confirmed by Ubisoft, so some details may change.

Far Cry 7’s story is rumoured to follow a different formula than the series’ usual first-person survival. Instead of liberating a region from a dictator, players will be thrown into a personal fight for survival. Leaks suggest the story centres around rescuing your kidnapped family from a mysterious group known as the “Sons of Truth” within a strict time limit.

The leaks also speak of a possible non-linear take on the game. This is incorporated into the freedom to rescue each family member in order you decide. However, the choices you make will impact the story and have permanent consequences, including the possibility of some family members not surviving, if you don’t reach them in time. The leaks mention a possible in-game timer of 72 hours (with the ability to pause in safe zones).

When it comes to gameplay, according to leaks, there are pinpoints to some unique gameplay mechanics. One rumoured feature is a new interrogation system. While interrogating enemies for information has been present in past Far Cry games, Far Cry 7 might take it a step further. According to leaks, enemies won’t always be truthful. They could lie, withhold information, or even try to escape.

Snowdrop Engine Likely

Another rumoured feature is a switch to the Snowdrop engine, which has powered games like Tom Clancy’s The Division series.

It’s important to remember that these leaks haven’t been confirmed by Ubisoft, so the final story and gameplay mechanics might be completely different.

Nevertheless, if half of these leaks are true, Far Cry 7 could become the best game in the series so far. Unfortunately, we are yet to receive confirmation of Far Cry 7 existence and its release date.
