Teratomo in Journey to the Savage Planet: Who is He & How to Beat Him

Teratomo Journey to the Savage Planet

Teratomo is the final boss in Journey to the Savage Planet. If you collected all the alien transmissions then you know that this is a mercy killing. Since Teratomo is the final boss, he can be rather challenging to defeat. In this guide, I go over what you need to know about Teratomo and how you can defeat him in Journey to the Savage Planet.

Who is Teratomo and How to Defeat Him in Journey to the Savage Planet

Who is Teratomo?

Teratomo is the final boss that you encounter on AR-Y 26. The boss is part of the main storyline and defeating him will unlock the achievements or trophies “Teratomo Defeated” and “Teratomo? Teratomo!”

Who Is Teratomo? is also the name of an achievement you can unlock by finding all 8 Alient Explorer Logs. The final two are in the final section of the game and you will not be able to leave this area until you have defeated the final boss. Once you have defeated the final boss you can head back to your ship and read all the Alient Explorer Logs to unlock the achievement “Who is Teratomo”.

How to Defeat Teratomo?

The Teratomo boss fight is divided into three stages. To defeat the boss you need to shoot the yellow glowing balls on his body. You should start the encounter by shooting at the orbs that are smaller and the ones that are around his mouth. The difficulty of the encounter will increase as you progress through the different stages.

Once you depleted a third of Teratomo’s health, the boss will be stunned and will take his tongue out. Allowing you to enter its mouth. You can get on its tongue and attempt to remove the seed from his mouth but you will be pushed back.

Phase Two

During the second phase of the encounter, the boss can destroy the platforms in the middle of the arena using its tentacles. You should avoid these platforms and stick to moving between the platforms that are along the walls of the arena.

Teratomo can also throw projectiles at you, that you can dodge by moving out of the way. He can also summon enemy mobs that you can easily kill by shooting at them. During the encounter, platforms can get covered in lava, and standing on them means that you will take damage over time. If the platform you are standing on is covered in lava, you should move to another platform immediately to conserve your health.

Continue to deal damage to the boss by shooting at the yellow-glowing orbs until you have chipped away two-thirds of Teratomo’s health. The boss will stay stunned for a while so you can look around for resources before heading into his mouth and attempting to take the seed. Your second attempt at taking the seed will fail as well and you will be pushed back.

Phase Three

The final phase of the Teratomo boss fight in Journey to the Savage Planet has the same strategy. Shoot the yellow glowing orbs to deal damage to the boss. During this phase, the boss can shoot yellow projectiles at you. You can avoid taking damage by shooting them before they can hit you.

I recommend shooting the orbs that are around his face first since he can bring his tentacles up to protect himself and then attack you with them. If you see his tentacles form a wall then you should move to other platforms to avoid taking damage.

You will need to shoot all the glowing orbs to defeat the boss. Once his HP is depleted his tongue will come out yet again and you can head into his mouth to retrieve the seed. The boss is part of the main storyline and defeating him will unlock the achievement or trophy “Teratomo Defeated”

Once you have defeated the final boss, you can skip the credits to get the “Teratomo? Teratomo!” achievement or trophy.

Teratomo Boss Tips And Tricks

Keep Moving Between Platforms

The boss can attack you with projectiles and the platforms can get covered with lava. So you should keep shifting platforms in order to avoid taking damage. Lava will deal damage over time, so you should move to another platform immediately.

Shoot The Yellow Projectiles

During the third phase of the encounter, Teratomo can shoot yellow projectiles at you. You can shoot these projectiles before they get to you to avoid taking damage.

Remember To Heal

You can find a vitality plant in the boss arena, which you can use to recover your HP. You can heal when you deplete a segment of Teratomo’s health bar. Each time that happens the boss will be stunned and you will have enough time to heal, jump into his mouth, and attempt to take out the seed.

Take Down Smaller Enemies First

During the boss fight, Teratomo can throw projectiles at you and even summon smaller enemy mobs. Since the boss does not move around much and does not have a variety of attacks, you should prioritize taking out the smaller enemies before you focus your attention on the boss again.

Upgrade Your Health And Weapons

Upgrades can be used to increase your combat performance and survivability. They can be crafted at the 3D Matter Reconstructor in the Javelin. Some of the best upgrades I can recommend include Jump Thrusters, Fast Reload, and Improved Damage.

This is how you can defeat Teratomo in Journey to the Savage Planet. Keep moving between platforms and shooting the orbs and you should be fine! For more gaming content, stay tuned to Power Up Gaming.
