Abiotic Factor: How to Play Single Player

Abiotic Factor

I love it when a game allows me to play single player. While I don’t mind being in a large group, especially when playing a fighting or racing game, I still prefer to experience it for the first time alone. It allows me to figure out the controls, the story, and the gameplay mechanics without the constant presence of inappropriate commentary or running jokes. So, with all that in mind, here’s how to play single-player in Abiotic Factor, the latest survival-crafting game that’s taking streamers and the world by storm!

What Is Abiotic Factor?

Abiotic Factor

While you’re probably well aware of what this game entails, I still want to ensure you fully understand it because Abiotic Factor is an excellent experience if you know what it is. Simply put, this is a story-driven survival crafting title that mixes elements from stuff like Half-Life and Minecraft. Your goal is to build bases and take care of your bathroom needs (yes, really.) It has all the expected tropes of the genre, but it has “traits”, which are essentially this game’s way of modifying your playing experience. The experience is much better with friends — especially on a dedicated server. But you don’t want to hear all that; you’re here to learn how to play single player…

How to Play Single Player Only In Abiotic Factor

Abiotic Factor

After getting through the game’s prologue, which serves as its introduction, you can start a new world using the character you just created. Yes, this game has a character creator. It’s your initial step to joining a world for the first time, so there’s no way you can miss it, and it can be accessed anytime via the menu. Anyway, once you do all that, you’ll load into a new world, but Abiotic Factor doesn’t save the world settings, so you’ll have to hit “load” when you load it up the next time. Oh, I should probably mention that you can play multiplayer with up to six people on a single map. Or, if you prefer to play on your own, that’s cool, too. It’s fun either way!

In the right-hand box in the menu, you can select “Singleplayer Only,” allowing you to load onto a single-player server. So, there you have it. Pretty easy, right? If you want to learn how to craft materials in Abiotic Factor, then make sure you read on.

How To Craft Items In Abiotic Factor

Abiotic Factor

You’ll mainly craft items using a Powered Crafting Bench, which you can get by using the research feature, figuring out its recipe, and placing the required materials in the crafting and research tab. You can also “un-craft” items in a way by discarding them with the Repair Bench. By doing this, you will destroy the item and give you a small portion of the resources needed to make the item. In some cases, scraping is the only way to access some items during the game’s early hours.

Finally, you should also know that crafting some recipes will require items made through other skills, such as farming and cooking. For example, solder is technically a cooking recipe since you make it the same way you make soup.

There are four ways to unlock new crafting recipes: pick up all the resources in a crafting recipe, discover the recipe, get told by an NPC, or receive the recipe from another player. So, don’t be afraid to keep exploring with your pals or alone to ensure you’re picking stuff up and learning new things.

Abiotic Factor has gone viral online in the last several weeks, so hopefully, this guide has helped you get on your way to joining the fun. It may not be for everyone, but there’s no doubt that it’s a fun and engaging multiplayer experience bursting at the seams with unique ideas. Whether you’re into the game for its co-op, the addictive gameplay loop, or you’re just there to cause chaos, thanks for checking out the guide. Enjoy!
