Zenless Zone Zero is your next Gacha addiction. Coming from the minds behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, this new urban fantasy RPG game takes players to the post-apocalyptic dystopian world of New Eridu in which they will battle fierce enemies known as Hollows.
In this guide, we will answer one of many burning questions: does Zenless Zone Zero have a co-op/multiplayer element? The answer isn’t all straightforward, as there are some nuances to explore.
Zenless Zone Zero Co-op & Multiplayer Explained
At its core, Zenless Zone Zero is a single-player game. This means that multiplayer isn’t a part of open-world exploration. However, there is one way to play ZZZ in a co-op / head-to-head multiplayer mode, but it is not too obvious.
The one and only way is Arcade Mode. Players will find this on Sixth Street in New Eridu at the Godfinger Arcade. After interacting with Billy Kid there will be a questline to follow and the Arcade will soon be unlocked. This is where players can play various mini-games with friends and random players. There are two options currently:
- Snake Duel – Clash (2v2): Inspired by the classic Snake game, this fast-paced arena throws you and a teammate against another duo.
- Soul Hounds III – Group Hunt (4 Players): Work together with three other players to break down an endless stream of blocks.
How to Play:
- Select a mini-game in the Godfinger Arcade.
- Invite friends using the “+” button or join random players with the “Match” option.
- Both mini-games allow up to four players total.
For now, this is the only way to play Zenless Zone Zero with others. However, being that the game is just a week old, undoubtedly, geniuses from HoYoverse will certainly add more co-op and multiplayer options in the future.
Nevertheless, ZZZ provides enough fun to play it alone. There are plenty of Agents to experiment with and upgrade, quests to complete, and new enemies to fight against.
