Each one takes place in a different setting, with some even returning from the first Destiny game. Additionally, some are free-to-play, with others needing an expansion to be owned, to play. However, after playing through the main game, you may be looking for new experiences. The raids offer this to players, even if they may take a bit of a learning experience to grasp. Some more than others, however. But the rewards tend to speak for themselves in the end. Furthermore, for a bigger challenge, you can complete the Master difficulty of a raid. It dials up the challenge by adding modifiers, usually negative ones for the raid team. However, there are bonus rewards such as exclusive ships that players can unlock by beating the difficulty.
What is the Easiest Raid in Destiny 2?
The easiest raid in Destiny 2 for players to complete is called Root of Nightmares. Players can find it by navigating to the Neomuna section of the map in the menu. However, players need to be aware that to play it, you must own the Lightfall expansion. Therefore, if you wish to have Destiny 2 remain a free-to-play experience, Vault of Glass is the next best choice. This raid can be found by navigating to the Legends section of the map.
When it comes to Root of Nightmares, new players will first the Cataclysm encounter. This requires players to link nodes, while others clear enemies. Afterward, you experience jumping puzzles, which are a part of many raids. For these, you can simply follow other raid members and learn which route to take. Upon reaching the Scission encounter, players must ascend a multi-level cavern. Doing so by defeating specific enemies using the light/dark mechanics it contains. Players will contend with the first boss, Zo’Aurc, then a third platforming puzzle before fighting Nezerec, the final boss of the raid.
Overall, Root of Nightmares is a short raid out of the many in Destiny 2. Furthermore, it is the easiest. The raid uses the light/dark orbs mechanic throughout it. Plus, it is easy to grasp, even when participating in boss fights. The only deviation is the Zo’Aurc, which requires memorization and teamwork with partners to hit the correct order of planets. All-in-all, if you wish to start off on a good and easy raid, Root of Nightmares has my pick.

King’s Fall is the toughest raid to get through in Destiny 2. While Root of Nightmares is the easiest raid to pull off. King’s Fall will test players’ communication skills to the max. Furthermore, the puzzles are more intricate and less forgiving. So take this list into account when deciding which raids to jump into as a fresh player to the mode.
Can You Matchmake to Do Raids in Destiny 2?
The only way to matchmake raids in Destiny 2 is through Guided Games. as a solo player. If you are with other players, you must look for others by using the official Destiny 2 app. Guided Games is meant to help players looking to learn the raids and get experience from others. Additionally, they are the only in-game way to matchmake for raids. Using the official app helps you to create official groups or search for them and then join each other’s lobbies.
Ever since the original Destiny, matchmaking for raids has not existed. The inclusion of Destiny 2 continues this habit, which should be left behind. This way, if matchmaking was enabled, players could easily queue up for raids, rather than spending time looking for groups. However, it likely will not change in the future of the series.

Furthermore, both boss fights are intriguing and don’t feel unfair or impossible to learn the mechanics. However, if you don’t have Lightfall, be sure to play Vault of Glass. As the first raid I ever played back in Destiny, it is full of memorable encounters and puzzles. Additionally, a boss fight to remember that involves time travel. Just be sure to remember that there is nothing wrong with starting on an easy raid. As it provides a great stepping stone to progress to much more complex ones down the line.
