Tom Warren: Bethesda Have Been Working on PS5 Starfield “For a While”

Tom Warren, senior editor at The Verge, joined The Xbox Two + 1 podcast mid March where he shared some interesting insights into Microsoft’s plans for its first-party properties. Notably, Warren and hosts Jez Corden and Rand al Thor 19 discuss Forza Horizon, Halo, and Starfield coming to the PlayStation 5.

We’ve known for months now that Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft’s flagship racing title, will be coming to the PS5. The official website current states the game will be hitting PS5 in “Spring 2025”, though the hosts and Warren all confirm that it was originally meant to release last year. The more interesting claims have to do with Starfield and a Halo collection coming to PS5.

Starfield coming to Sony’s home console is a rumor that’s persisted for a while now with no official statement to support it. Recently, we’ve seen increasing evidence that a PS5 release for Starfield is a matter of when, and not if. Not long ago, we talked about the appearance of the PS5 logo on the official Starfield Creations platform.

On the podcast, Warren confirms that not only is Starfield coming to PlayStation 5, but it’s likely near completion. When asked if the release date may coincide with the release of the upcoming DLC expansion coming later this year, Warren said, “…they have been working on it for a while, so it should be ready.” Warren also explained that the PS5 version of Starfield was originally planned to include the first expansion, but that idea was eventually scrapped.

On Halo coming to PS5, Warren says PlayStation gamers may not get a full collection of Halo titles:

“I don’t know if it’s going to be a ‘collection’. I wouldn’t think of it as every game.”
