How to Complete the Primitive Challenge in Phasmophobia

primitive gameplay in phasmophobia feature

It’s a new week, and Primitive is the newest challenge for Phasmophobia. Usually, when you boot up the game and see the challenge, there isn’t really much to go off. This ultimately can make it hard to be prepared. As in the past, with Survival of the Fittest, knowing what modifiers are on can help. The odds are almost always against you with how these are set up. Sometimes you are stuck with tier one items. Other times, you don’t have crucial items like the DOTS Projector or even start with no Sanity. And with how Phasmophobia is set up, it’s hard to have a sure-fire way to succeed. However, we are here to provide fellow ghost investigators with the knowledge to help get the Primitive challenge done.

What is the Primitive Challenge in Phasmophobia?

Primitive is a specific weekly challenge that players can do in Phasmophobia. This time, though, you cannot use any items that are electronic. So, as you can see, it’s already a tough thing to do when some of the most useful tools are electronic. However, those aren’t the only parameters for Primitive. They are the following:

  • Location: 10 Ridgeview Court
  • Fuse Box: Broken.
  • Starting Sanity: 100
  • Sanity Pill Restoration: 40%
  • Sanity Drain Speed: 100%
  • Sprinting: On
  • Player Speed: 100%
  • Flashlights: On
  • Lose Items and Consumables: Off
  • Ghost Speed: 100%
  • Roaming Frequency: Medium
  • Favourite Room Change: Off
  • Activity Level: High
  • Event Frequency: Low
  • Grace Period: 5 Seconds
  • Hunt Duration: Low
  • Evidence Given: 3
  • Fingerprint Chance: 100%
  • Fingerprint Duration: 120 seconds.
  • Setup Time: 300 Seconds.
  • Weather: Random
  • Doors Starting Open: None
  • Number of Hiding Places: Very High
  • Sanity Monitor: On
  • Activity Monitor: On
  • Fuse Box Visible on Map: On
  • Cursed Possessions: Ouija Board

When it comes to what tools you can use, the following are what are at your disposal:

  • Tier 1: Crucifix, Igniter, Incense, Thermometer, and Ultraviolet.
  • Tier 2: Firelight and Salt.
  • Tier 3: Ghost Writing Book.

The challenge speaks for itself, with no electronics to help you. Primitive is one of the toughest in the game, but there are some useful tips to help complete it.

How to Complete Primitive

Players need to correctly guess the right ghost three times on 10 Ridgeview Court while in Challenge mode. Upon doing so, you will finish the Primitive weekly challenge. Like other challenges, you don’t have a limited number of attempts, so you can guess wrong without any consequences. Moreover, you don’t take in your personal loadout, so you won’t lose money if you die without getting the ghost right.

First and foremost, take an Incense and an Igniter with you. That way, when the ghost attacks, you can stall it, so you can escape and hide. Furthermore, have a UV Light with you so you can check for signs of fingerprints as evidence. Because the evidence stays behind longer, this makes things easier. With an extra inventory slot, take the thermometer and closely inspect it to find where the temperature dips down. This will help find the ghost’s room faster.

Once you find the ghost room, go back to the van and get salt to place down. Once you see a ghost walk through it, if there are no footprints, cross out Ultraviolet. This goes for the Ghost Writing Book; if it’s tossed and not written in, you can cross that out, too. Deducing the ghost’s evidence quickly can help to narrow down which ghost it is. Additionally, to make things easier, going into the challenge mode with other players will give you more help. Both in deduction and gathering evidence faster.

Primitive Challenge Rewards in Phasmophobia

The reward for completing Primitive is both $5,000 and 5,000 XP for players. Completing this can help you get that much closer to hitting level 100. Which, if you choose to make things interesting, will allow you to prestige and start with basic equipment. Furthermore, having extra money helps you to purchase or upgrade existing items. But it’s also useful to have it with you if you are providing most of the equipment for investigations. Since some equipment trips for contracts can cost at least $500 per run with some of the better equipment.

The challenges in Phasmophobia put all players to the test on their knowledge and skills. But don’t let it deter you from trying it if you haven’t yet. Completing them for the rewards is great. However, learning the different small details of ghost behaviors and evidence can improve your skills. Even with the amount that I have played since I started, these challenges help to get me to get better at the game so I can do even harder contracts. So when you feel up to it, pick out the Primitive challenge and get to solving it either on your own or with others.
