Phasmophobia: How to Complete the Vulnerable Challenge

In Phasmophobia, we have Vulnerable as the new weekly challenge to conquer. Each of these challenges is meant to test the merit of all players in the game. From limiting your equipment to making the contract much more intense. For example, the Survival of the Fittest had you working with no sanity. And no way to regain it at that. Plus, to make things more interesting, players only get a week to complete it. Afterward, a different challenge is brought forward to try and complete. They are always good to do to change things up once in a while, even if you are newer to the game. While they can be tough, don’t be intimidated. We have created this guide to help you complete the Vulnerable challenge. That way, you can earn the bragging rights and some good rewards in the process.

What is the Vulnerable Challenge in Phasmophobia?

The Vulnerable challenge forces players to figure out the correct ghost type with no defensive tools. It has to be done at 13 Willow Street and correctly guess three times to get the rewards. However, those are not the only rules to this challenge. Players have to deal with the different rules set when they pick the “Challenge Mode” in the difficulty. All of the parameters are:

  • Starting Sanity: 100
  • Sanity Pill Restoration: 30%
  • Sanity Drain Speed: 200%
  • Sprinting: On
  • Player Speed: 100%
  • Flashlights: On
  • Lose Items and Consumables: Off
  • Ghost Speed: 100%
  • Roaming Frequency: High
  • Changing Favourite Room: Low
  • Activity Level: Low
  • Event Frequency: Medium
  • Friendly Ghost: Off
  • Grace Period: 3 seconds.
  • Hunt Duration: High
  • Evidence Given: 3
  • Fingerprint Chance: 100%
  • Fingerprint Duration: 120 seconds.
  • Setup Time: 0 Seconds.
  • Weather: Random
  • Doors Starting Open: High
  • Number of Hiding Places: None
  • Sanity Monitor: On
  • Activity Monitor: On
  • Fuse Box At Start of Contract: Off
  • Fuse Box Visible on Map: On
  • Cursed Possessions: Voodoo Doll

Like other challenges, players don’t need to worry about bringing in their own loadout. Rather, they have a preset challenge loadout, and for Vulnerable, these tools are available:

  • Tier 1: DOTS Projector, EMF Reader, Firelight, Flashlight, Ghost Writing Book, Head Gear, Igniter, Motion Sensor, Parabolic Microphone, Photo Camera, Salt, Sound Sensor, Spirit Box, Thermometer, Tripod, UV Light, and Video Camera.

Players only have two Firelight tools to work with, so be cautious when you use them. Because they are Tier 1, they will be used up faster than you think. However, as you can see, the challenge is truly primitive, especially with all the tools being Tier 1. But I have tips to help you out, with one being the location you are doing the challenge.

How to Complete Vulnerable

Players need to guess the correct ghost type on “Challenge Mode” three different times. The contract location must also be set to 13 Willow Street for the progress to be counted. The settings for this challenge make it hard, as the tools are not as effective, being at the base level. However, there is a unique way to make things easier while playing on Willow Street. When you first enter the house, if the ghost room is not the beginning, find the room. When a hunt starts, go back to the beginning room and shut the double doors. If you stay away from them, turn all electronics off, and it’s not a Deogen, things are much easier. This is because it acts as a barrier, so the ghost cannot see you. This helps, as there are no hiding spots in this challenge.

Aside from using the starting room to hide out, ensure the lights are kept on. You cannot gain Sanity back, so staying in areas with lights on will help to preserve it. As with other contracts, your main priorities are to find and turn on the Fuse box. Which can be found on your left in the garage or in the basement, second room on the right. And locate the ghost room (best to find with a Thermometer and Video Camera). Because you have three evidence, you have all of the tools at your disposal. Therefore, no need to worry about figuring out the ghost’s hidden behaviors.

As always, it’s best to try and bring in other players with you for the challenge. Having more hands on deck in Phasmophobia can make things easier. More so with a squad that is fully communicating. Different players can take different tools, while others can use the van to survey for activity. But you don’t need to worry about consequences for guessing wrong or the ghost getting you. You don’t lose your equipment and can keep guessing until you get all three correct answers. As long as it is before the challenge ends.

Challenge Rewards for Completing Vulnerable in Phasmophobia

For guessing the three correct ghosts, players get an instant $5,000 to spend in-game on tools and upgrades. Furthermore, if you are aiming to level up, you also earn 5,000 XP. While you can earn money and XP from any contract, the amount you get from a challenge is huge. More so because you only get to see an amount like this if you do harder difficulties. Such as Insanity or Apocalypse. Some of the tools to buy can cost a minimum of $1,000. So, you can buy a few with this. Plus, it usually takes around 1,500 XP on average to level up. So you can rise in the ranks a few times by doing Vulnerable.

Many of these can be tough to complete. This week, especially, not having hiding places from the ghost is risky. But using the door method for 13 Willow Street can make this much easier. I was just on the map a couple of days ago and can confirm that it still works. Therefore, be sure to do this to have a safe backup. Whether you want to do it solo or with others, the week has just started. So hop into the challenge while there is plenty of time.
