TW Warhammer 3: All 4 Lords Ranked (Lords of the End Times)

Total War Warhammer 3

There are four new Legendary Lords in Total War Warhammer 3: Lords of the End Times, adding a new race of Undead Legions, new Legendary Heroes, Archaon rework, and updated victory conditions. This guide will provide you with a list of all four lords in the game, ranked from best to worst, except Neferata, which is a free one.

Nagash (Undead Legions)

Nagash (Undead Legions)

  • Strengths: Highest skill ceiling, unique roster, strong late game, excellent endgame and campaign.
  • Weaknesses: Power creep, which requires careful energy and conquest management.

Nagash is by far the most powerful new lord in the game, so pick him up if you want to top your necromancy magic, conquer the world, and ascend to godhood. He’s also a very strong melee lord with access to the full Vampire Counts, Tomb Kings, and Vampire Coast rosters, capable of transforming the world into a Land of the Dead.

He has an extremely powerful kit with Staff of Power, Mortis Blade, and Arch Necromancer. His new units include Morghast Harbingers, Archai, Khemric Titan, Spirit Host, Drakenhof Templars, Coven Throne, and more.

Thanquol (Skaven)

Thanquol (Skaven)

  • Strengths: Fun Skaven play with excellent unit additions, such as Stormfiends, who are particularly strong.
  • Weaknesses: Masterplans can be inconsistent if complications hit hard.

Skaven fans who enjoy chaotic, underhanded gameplay and big monster magic armies will find Thanquol an extremely fun lord to control. He rides the Scheming Grey Seer on Boneripper mount and uses a mix of Plague and Ruin magic, with sizeable melee presence once mounted.

Thanquol has access to the full Skaven roster and new toys, such as Stormfiends, Verminlords, Skreech Verminking, Warp-Doom Magma Cannon, Cauldron of a Thousand Poxes, Pusbags, and Boneripper, making Thanquol far more survivable than typical casters.

Glottkin (Nurgle)

Glottkin (Nurgle)

  • Strengths: Tough armies, strong hero support, good corruption and plague play.
  • Weaknesses: Somewhat slower and less explosive than Nagash or Thanquol.

If you love Nurgle resilience, stacks, and spreading decay across the map, then Glottkin should be right up your alley. Note that his three brothers (Otto, Ethrac, and Ghurk) act as a single monstrous combatant with scythe and sorcery, riding a massive Nurgle spawn, which is extremely resilient.

He also has access to Warriors of Chaos and multiple Legendary Heroes (Gutrot Spume, Morbidex Twiceborn, Bloab Rotspawned, and Orghotts Daemonspew), Putrid Blightkings, Giant Spined Chaos Beast, Flayerkin, Chaos Siege Giant, Basilisk, and massive plague synergy.

Boris Todbringer (Empire)

Boris Todbringer (Empire)

  • Strengths: Reliable Empire gameplay with good troop quality for players who like disciplined human armies.
  • Weaknesses: Less flashy compared to the apocalyptic lords mentioned above.

Lastly, here’s the weakest of the four new lords, but if you’re one of the Empire role-players and wish to defend it by hunting Beastmen, especially Khazrak, or just seeking a more grounded campaign, then it wouldn’t be a bad choice either.

Boris is a classic Empire general and strong melee lord with a full Empire roster and Middenland units: Teutogen Guard, Knights of the White Wolf, Knights Panther, Warriors of Ulric, Wolf-Kin, Hunting Hounds, Celestial Hurricanum, Seneschal of the White Wolf, Priest of Ulric, Legendary Hero Ar-Ulric Emil Valgeir, and solid infantry.
