EA Sports has today revealed the official TV spot for upcoming football sim FIFA 16, and it’s one of the most memorable trailers the series has seen in years.
Featuring the likes of Leo Messi, Sergio Agüero, Alex Morgan, Pelé and even Kobe Bryant showcasing their skills, the over-the-top commercial – already being dubbed ‘Fifaro’ – is an operatic ode to the beauty of ‘the beautiful game’.
In a press release, Wieden+Kennedy, the agency responsible for putting the advert together, said: “The spot dramatizes the one-upmanship nature of football that drives players to make the game ever more beautiful, and literally sings an ode to the sport in the accompanying soundtrack – a specially rewritten, football-focused version of the famous Aria from the ‘Barber of Seville’ opera.”
FIFA 16 is set to release next week on current and last-gen consoles. A small number of Xbox One users were given access to the game yesterday after a UK retailer inadvertently broke the title’s street date by nine days.
