Dying Light is getting an update for Christmas. Well, it’s an update, and it’s coming to the game around the same time as Christmas, but honestly it’s about as far from the spirit of the season as things can get. In a game where the core gameplay revolves around slaughtering the undead and levelling up your character, this is about as Christmas themed as it gets.
Chivalrous Zombie Killing
Techland has created a crossover event for Dying Light and Chivalry. Yes, the medieval multiplayer fighting game. There’s actually a very cool trailer for the event. Check it out below and read on for more details.
Chivalry is a game about beating the crap out of other players with medieval weaponry, as a knight. It’s actually a lot of fun, particularly when you’re in an organised group and shouting all the old-timey chants. Dying Light is very much not that type of game. It’s about surviving the zombie apocalypse with melee weaponry and parkour.
As you’d imagine, these two games don’t blend at all, except when it comes to melee combat, and that’s why this whole event is being organised. Two new weapons, a sword and a shield, have been added to Dying Light for the event, and if the community meet their goal then they can also unlock some medieval armour to use in the game. All content earned during the event will carry across to the core Dying Light campaign, so it’s definitely worth it.
In terms of actual Christmas content, I don’t know what to tell you. This in-game event is definitely being released at the right time, which is why we’re covering it, but really it has nothing to do with Christmas. However, if your Christmas traditions have anything to do with saving innocent people from zombies with buckets on their heads, then the event will probably be just right for your Christmas Day.
On the other hand, you may just not celebrate Christmas. For you, this event could provide a refreshing break from all the holiday nonsense. If that’s what you need, then I hope you have a blast ripping the heads off of the undead.
