A recent patch from EA for The Sims 4 seemed to add an unfortunate side effect for some Sims when they went to the toilet. For some players, Sims would see their pee set on fire, still in the toilet bowl, regardless of whether they were standing or sitting at the time. The issue was captured first by RockPaperShotgun, and hasn’t really become too much of an issue for most people. Still, for those affected, it’s a weird and slightly hazardous issue to have.
Fire is annoying in The Sims 4. It can burn through your house in no time, and destroy both property and people if you don’t stay on top of it. From what the reports say though, this fiery piss was limited to the toilet bowl, and only appeared for the time that a Sim was actually urinating. The cause of the issue has been speculated over, but at the time of writing we don’t have an explanation. The most likely reason for it is that EA has switched out which animation is being used for when a Sim pees, but the developers either forgot to change the colour of said animation, or something else is affecting it in specific cases.
Some players found that if they removed mods then their game went back to normal. Others found that they just had to delete save files and start again. It’s a problem for some, but really I don’t think it was that bad. Apparently the fire department didn’t do a thing if you called them, other than fine you for their wasted time.
Off the back of this issue, I’m sure someone out there is going to make a mod that purposely makes a Sim’s pee set fire to the bathroom. I can’t imagine why that now won’t exist until the end of time, it’s a hilarious mod, and would make for a great hardcore playthrough.
EA will probably fix the issue before too long, if they haven’t already. Still, it’s nice to know that stupid things like this can still happen in games. With The Sims 5 supposedly on the way, you’d have thought that EA wouldn’t mind leaving this issue in for a while to convince players that the next game will be better.
