GRE Is Making A Return In Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2‘s developer Techland has confirmed quite a lot of new details in its second AMA session on the game. One of those details is about GRE, the company that plays quite a major role in the original Dying Light. these are the guys basically making the vaccine that keeps people from turning into mindless zombies once they’ve been infected. In that game, there were multiple drops of the vaccine a day, so fans have been wondering how a company that can justify that cost can possibly disappear from the world in the sequel. We know that Dying Light 2 is set far in the future in this world, a long time after the original game, but it seems like even a company with those kinds of means couldn’t survive.

In Dying Light 2, GRE is a part of the lore of the world. Players will pick up collectibles such as notes and audio logs that will tell them about GRE and what happened to them. There will also be abandoned labs and quarantine zones that form a part of the game’s core activities. From the sounds of it, these will be a sort of parkour challenge for players to overcome. At the end of those challenges, there will be some sort of powerful reward, though no details on what the rewards could be have been given.

GRE is massive, so I think it’ll still be running in the world of Dying Light 2. However, it’s probably in a diminished form. I’d say that those who want to cure the infection are working underground on something, but the rest of the business has collapsed under the sheer need for vaccines. The abandoned facilities are abandoned because people took them back when they needed space to run from the infected, and they thought nowhere would be safer. Now though, I suspect these are the most dangerous areas in the city. I believe that clearing them out will somehow aid the people of the city, but not without a cost associated with harming someone else. Hopefully, we also get some clarity on exactly what GRE is doing at this point in time.
