Mesozoic Park In Far Cry 6 Is Awesome

Far Cry 6 has an element to is called Live Operations. These are missions that require you to have an inline connection and take you to a small pocket of Yara where you can complete a self-contained mission. The one I’ve played so far is called Mesozoic Park, and it’s bloody brilliant. I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it is, but there are so many elements to it that are different from the base game that I think it deserves a mention for how inventive it is with the classic Far Cry formula, and how it makes Far Cry 6 feel like a better game.

The mission takes you to Far Cry 6’s version of Jurassic Park, there’s no way around it. It’s a rip-off of the entire park, but that’s okay because it’s brilliant. The park is filled with fake dinosaurs, and you’re sent there because a bioweapon that Castillo was transporting has crash-landed there. You need to go in and pick it up to prevent Castillo from using it against you and your friends, but that’s easier said than done.

You can really take your time exploring the area if you want to. There’s a lot to see and some love has clearly gone into this place. Once you find the bioweapon though, you’ve got to be careful. Stand in the sun, and it heats up until it explodes and kills you. This forces you to dart between shadows and use water fountains around the park to cool off the device. The whole thing ends with a big fight against a lot of soldiers, something that was a lot easier with the game’s best stealth loadout.

I love this Live Operation, and I think it’s made even better by the fact that it’s hidden away from the main game. This is content that’s cut off for those willing to buy it, I think, but it’s also a lovely little adventure that adds to the story of Yara. It gives you world lore and a really enjoyable mission. This is a type of activity that should be in the main game, but it’s nice to have it secured here where it keeps with the theme of the dinosaur park.
