Get Ready For The Christmas Gaming Event Storm

Christmas is always an interesting time of year for games. There are so many out at the moment that all have some sort of game-as-a-service element to them. Whether they’re literally based online like Fortnite or Destiny 2, or they’re partially built to be updated over time like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, there’s always something that could be coming along when you least expect it. For me, I love this time of year because it’s when the time-limited events come along to surprise you. These are in-game events that you’ll see once per year and offer some exclusive gear or items for you to collect. There’s always a reason to play them, because the game offers you the incentive to pick up something you can show off to all the players that missed out in the future.

There are so many games that will be getting Christmas events now that it’s almost too much to cope with. Only this week I discussed No Man’s Sky and the Expeditions Revisitied event that we’re playing through right now. That’s one event that will take you all the way to Christmas day if you allow it to. Other events are already in the calendar as well, such as the Destiny Solstice of Heroes or whatever it ends up being these days. There’s also a guarantee that we’ll get something in Dying light. Techland never misses an opportunity to put something new out in that game, and it’s almost always enjoyable.

The thing I want to say to all of you who also enjoy these events is to prepare yourself. They will come thick and fast, and they’re going to get extremely messy. They’ll tear up your schedule and have you playing games like a mad person. You’ll be flitting between releases like they’re pages in a book as you try to keep up with everything that’s going on. At least, that’s what I’ll be doing over the course of the next few weeks. With so much happening, it can feel silly when buying new games, but there are also new titles like Halo Infinite to take on board. It’s nuts really, so try to keep your head above the water before diving in too deep.
