A brand new set of modding tools. Raddish mod tools, have been released for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. These tools were announced alongside an epic trailer, with a cracking soundtrack. Check out the trailer for the mod tools below, and read on for more details about them.
New Stories
The idea behind Raddish mod tools is to allow modders to create some awesome new stories in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, ones that aren’t trivial, and can really tell some new tales in a world that some people are very familiar with. While these tools are easy to use, they apparently require a level of understanding of modding before they can be used, meaning they aren’t exactly beginner mod tools.
Using Raddish mod tools, modders can create brand new story UI, which are the interactions between Geralt and NPCs in the game, as well as dialogue options. This should make it easy to craft new stories and build them into the world, but the content is only half of the battle. The other aspect to in-game quests is of course environment, but Raddish mod tools also allow modders to craft new areas for players to explore, ones that can be specifically designed for their quest.
These tools are really powerful, and there’s even one for mapping audio to Geralt’s lip movements so that any voicework in the game appears as it would in an expansion released by the official developer. I’ve always been interested in mods for huge games like The Witcher 3, but honestly I haven’t even finished the game yet, so any new content is wasted on me until I have. With games like Skyrim there are thousands of mods, and they usually go into every area you can think of, from slight visual upgrades, to entire overhauls of the game, transforming it into a completely different one, like chess.
So far it looks like most of the mods for The Witcher 3 are fairly sensible, adding armour, a hood, or even a quest to the game. However, there are some that appear to be more fun, or system-changing, such as the mod that just adds Joker facepaint to Geralt for as long as you want it there. Another mod alters the damage Geralt deals depending on his health, adding a mechanics that requires players to keep on top of their health and avoid damage as much as possible, which looks like it would be a lot of fun for experienced players.
Raddish mod tools should enable some very creative people to create some brilliant new content for this beloved game, and I can’t wait to see what they do. Check out the mod tools for yourself here.
