Monster Hunter World Reaches Massive Peak Concurrent Player Count Unseen Since 2020

Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter World is one of those games that continues to impress years after its release. The game has seen support from its fanbase even despite a new entry in the series known as Monster Hunter Rise making its rounds. Currently, the game broke a new milestone thanks to a new social media campaign and also being available on the latest Steam sale.

The social media campaign in question is #ReturntoWorld. This campaign sees Monster Hunter World players sharing their experiences in the Action RPG from Capcom. The clips range from very cool combos to neat tips and tricks that can be used to defeat certain monsters in the game. The most common factor seen in the clips is the sense of community, with multiple players helping each other. It’s because of this overwhelming support that the game has boasted a new record when it comes to its concurrent player count.

In a shocking turn of events, Monster Hunter World has reached a new peak concurrent player count of 161,000+ players (according to metrics by SteamDB). This massive concurrent player count hasn’t been seen since the game’s debut back in March 2020. While the #ReturntoWorld social media campaign could be seen as the primary reason behind the resurgence of players, the game’s recent discount on the Steam Winter Sale could be another factor.

At the time of writing, there are 84,517 players on Monster Hunter World. This is a high player count, especially compared to the more recent entry, Monster Hunter Rise which currently only has 16,735 players at the time of writing. Still, Capcom is aware of the resurgence of interest in the game and is riding the wave by creating weekly livestreams to help newcomers and bring more players into this series’ entry.

Monster Hunter World is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
